Tax season is over, federal tax relief checks will soon be in the mail and the tourists are on their way here for the summer. We have much to be grateful for! Donna down at Secret Camp RV Park says that she has record bookings for May and June which is unusual but delightful!
May 1st marks the beginning of the season for the jet boat tours and both Jerry's and the Mail Boats are gearing up for a fantastic season. I have heard that they both have several "sold out" days already. Jerry's is celebrating their 50th Anniversary this year and they have a bunch of wacky and fun things planned for the summer including a Mother's and Father's Day's Special and '1 Millionth Customer Extravaganza' sometime in July!. Did you know that they give locals discounts, too?
With our tourist season kicking off it would be a good time to remind ourselves that good customer service is essential to keep our businesses growing and prospering, and to keep our customers coming back. Here are 10 Golden Nuggets of Good Customer Service to practice and to share with our employees (compliments of our neighboring Brookings-Harbor Chamber):
1. Know your customer.
2. Listen twice as much as you talk.
3. Always tell the truth.
4. Never argue with a customer.
5. Under promise, over perform!
6. Follow up! Follow up! Follow up!
7. Be thankful for your customers who complain, for you still have the opportunity to make them happy!
8. Enthusiasm makes a difference. The attitude of the employee is contagious to the customer.
9. Be thankful for each and every customer.
10. The Golden Rule! Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
Remember, good customer service is an attitude and begins with a smile!
All the best,
Elyse Power
